Anthony Jones - President
Anthony Jones is a community leader, nonprofit executive, and restorative justice advocate with over three decades of service to youth, families, and communities in Richmond, Virginia.
He began his nonprofit work in 1993 by founding Youth Looking for a New Way, focused on steering young people away from violence, crime, and gangs through mentoring, education, and positive engagement.
He later partnered with Patricia Houston to help establish Teen Summit, empowering young women through leadership development, workshops, mentoring, and connections with professionals in the music and entertainment industries.
In 2020, Anthony founded the Redirect Foundation, helping individuals move beyond cycles of violence, trauma, incarceration, and addiction toward healing, accountability, and opportunity, grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a second chance.
In 2023, he joined Richmond Restorative Justice as its first Vice President alongside founding President Lashawnda Singleton, expanding restorative practices through partnerships with schools, neighborhoods, faith organizations, and public agencies.
Within two years, he was elected President, advancing efforts in community engagement, victim support, youth empowerment, violence prevention, and conflict resolution.
Anthony’s work is guided by a core belief: people can change when given hope, accountability, and opportunity. His career reflects a commitment to restoring lives, strengthening families, and building thriving communities.
Lashawnda Singleton - Executive Director
Lashawnda Singleton is the Executive Director of Richmond Restorative Justice (RRJ), where she is committed to advancing restorative practices that center healing, accountability, and community transformation. With more than 20 years of experience in criminal justice reform, community engagement, and public service, she has dedicated her career to creating pathways for individuals and families impacted by violence, incarceration, and systemic inequities. Through her leadership, RRJ partners with community members, service providers, and justice system stakeholders to build restorative responses that repair harm, strengthen relationships, and promote lasting public safety.
Before leading RRJ, Lashawnda served in the administrations of Governors Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam, helping expand second-chance opportunities through Virginia's Restoration of Rights initiative and developing the Virginia Department of Corrections' Peer Recovery Specialist Program, which continues to support successful reentry for returning citizens. She currently serves as a Project Manager–Research Associate and Community Embedded Faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University, where her work focuses on restorative justice, youth reentry, and community violence intervention. In 2026, she completed an International Social Work Study Abroad program in Ghana, further strengthening her commitment to community-led solutions and global restorative practices. Lashawnda holds degrees in Social Work and Public Administration and is completing her Master of Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University.
