Who we are
RRJ is a community‐centered nonprofit dedicated to transforming how Richmond responds to harm. Instead of relying solely on punishment, we focus on repair, accountability, and reintegration. Our trained facilitators guide restorative processes that uplift the voices of victims and survivors, support responsible parties in taking meaningful accountability, and help communities heal.
Richmond Restorative Justice (RRJ) was established with a federal grant through the Richmond Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney (OCA), under the leadership of elected city prosecutor Colette McEachin.
What is restorative justice?
Restorative justice is a voluntary, dialogue‐based process that brings together the people most affected by harm. Through structured
conversations, participants explore what happened, how people were impacted, and what needs to be done to make things right.
This approach has been shown to reduce recidivism, increase accountability, and promote long‐term healing.
